The HULKFIT essentials
The most-rated products in each part of the garage gym.
HULKFIT began in 2017 with a problem most of you know. We trained in a gym across town, and the drive was longer than the workout. So we cleared half of a two-car garage and went looking for a rack. The ones we could afford wobbled. The steady ones were priced for commercial gyms.
The first thing we put our name on was a cage. It had 2.35 inch uprights, a pull-up bar that takes three grips, dip bars and safety bars you set at the bottom of your squat. We painted it yellow because the garage was dark and we wanted to see the rack from the door. It is still yellow, and it is still on the first page of this catalog.

Then came the parts that rack was missing. You can pull a lat bar down on the back of the cage and row a landmine off the base, and J-hooks slide in and out of the uprights. Most of the attachments you will find here were made to fit that first frame. Some fit any 2 by 2 inch rack, and every attachment page tells you which uprights and hole size it takes before you buy.
Made to fit the first rack
Attachments for the Pro Series uprights and for 2 x 2 inch racks.
Today the HULKFIT catalog runs to 91 products in 11 departments. Most of it is for the garage gym: racks and cages, weight-stack stations, benches, bumper and iron plates, dumbbells and kettlebells, bars, attachments and the tiles you put under all of it. A smaller part is for the rest of the house. The bed frames, storage cabinets and folding tables are built with the same steel and the same idea: rate it, then write the rating on the page.
That idea runs through every page. A rack page tells you the load it is rated for, the size of the uprights and the size of the holes, because those three numbers decide what you can hang on it. A plate page tells you the bore and whether the plate is made to be dropped. A bench page tells you whether it folds. When two versions of a product carry different numbers, both appear on the page, each next to its own version.

We also say what a thing will not do. A cable kit that clips to a pull-up bar is not a weight-stack machine. Half-inch foam tiles will not save a floor from a dropped deadlift. A folding wall rack needs studs and a drill, and a renter may not be allowed either. You will find a short note like that on every product page, because it is cheaper to read it here than to find out in the garage.

Prices change often in this category. Plates and dumbbells move with the price of iron, and bundles go up and down as their parts do. Every price in this catalog is the figure from our last update, and the date of that update is on the prices page.
If you are starting from nothing, the order we recommend is simple. Measure your ceiling first, then choose a rack that fits under it. Add a bar and a set of bumpers or iron plates, then a bench, then the floor. Dumbbells, cables and the rest can wait until you know which lifts you actually do. HULKFIT will be here when you get to them.
Dumbbells and kettlebells
Hex dumbbells, full sets with racks and kettlebell sets.
Plan a garage gym in three steps
Measure the ceiling
The Pro Series cage stands about 85 inches tall and the folding wall rack about 86. Under a low garage door track, measure twice.
Read the ceiling guidePick the rack and bar
Choose the frame by upright size and hole size, then add a 7 ft Olympic bar, or a 6 ft bar for a narrow rack.
Compare racksAdd plates and floor
Bumpers if you drop the bar, iron if you set it down. Put tiles or a mat under everything that touches the floor.

Rated load, rack by rack
The rated load is the first number to check on a rack. It tells you what the frame is built to carry on its hooks and arms. Upright size and hole size come next, because they decide which attachments fit.

Measured answers to the questions we get most.

Will a power rack fit in your garage? Measure these five things
A rack that does not fit under the ceiling is a very heavy coat stand. Five measurements, taken before you order, decide which HULKFIT frame will work in your space.

Bumper or iron plates? How to choose, and what goes under them
Both kinds of plate make a bar heavier. They differ in what happens when the bar comes down, how many fit on a sleeve, and what the floor has to take.

What to buy first for a home gym, in the order that makes sense
The public health advice for strength training is short: work every major muscle group, twice a week, to the point where the last repetition is hard. Here is the least equipment that lets you do that at home, and the order we would buy it in.
